Hello, and welcome from the writer of the McCulloch & Lang series of books, set in the semi-rural (but wild in ways I’ve always loved) regions of central Scotland.
I’ve wanted to create stories and craft beautiful language ever since reading one of those “You can be a writer” adverts in a newspaper, but for too many years I lacked the self-belief necessary to write more than a few short stories and one novel which I finished but which will never see daylight again. In my early fifties, my life started anew, thanks to a wonderful woman who kicked my arse until I started to believe in myself, then married me. Since then, my love of writing has been rekindled, and I’ve finally become what I always wanted to be; a story teller.
My debut novel, Blood Runs Deep, was published on 2nd February 2024, book two, Last To Die is due out on 2nd May 2024, and book three, as yet untitled, is due out in late October.
You can also read some of my small but perfectly-formed short stories here.
I’ve started a blog, too. Hopefully not a self-indulgent stream of crap of no interest to anyone but myself, but a personal record of my progress toward, and beyond, publication of my debut and my further development as a writer, and as a human being. Actually, maybe it is mostly for myself, but please feel free to dip into it if you’ve enjoyed my work and would like to learn about what makes me tick.
I can be contacted directly via this web site, or via my agent, Kevin Pocklington of The North Literary Agency.
